Aavik - C-380 / M-380 - Reference Preamplifier

Listed is an extremely rare combo which has never been previously offered for sale on the pre-owned market: Aavik C-380 Reference Preamplifier and Pure Efficient Class A M-380 Monoblocks. These units are a recent trade-in from a very good client who moved into the new Aavik 880 Series Electronics. All three units are conservatively rated as Excellent Condition.

The C-380 preamp features both a world class DAC and a world-class MC phono stage. As such, this package represents an incredible value in reference hi-fi. One of our good clients actually moved his dCS Vivaldi full-stack to his office system after hearing the DAC in his C-300, which was the (less advanced) predecessor to the C-380. The C-380's MC phono is perhaps the wold's quietest with the highest signal to noise ratio. You can run this system at full-gain in the phono input and (depending on your speaker’s sensitivity) you will not even hear a hiss in the background which is simply unheard of in vinyl.

The M-380 monos are absolute powerhouses, combining 300 watts per channel of non-switching Class A power into 8 ohms (600 watts into 4 ohms) with a damping factor of over 12,000 - a damping factor that's unmatched by most amplifiers regardless of design and absolutely unheard of in class-A. This ultra-high damping factor gives the M-380's insane woofer control. Thanks to Michael Borresen's ingenious class-A design, the M-380's run extremely cool; after running all day, they'll only be warm to the touch.
As with their predecessors (the Aavik 300-series) these 380-components incorporate cutting edge resonant mode power supplies, known for high output and ultra-low noise. Also like the 300-series, the chassis of each 380 component is lined with copper, which reduces EM noise and electrical induction - both of which are the enemies of hi-fi. But the 380-series improves upon its predecessors by incorporating even more of Michael Borresen's signature noise cancellation technology - the passive and active Tesla coil and analog dither - as well as including anti-arial resonance coils (a technology popularized by the powerful Ansuz Sortz).

In order to surpass the features and performance of this incredibly rare system, one would have to purchase the forthcoming 880 class-A monos (estimated at or above $100k each) and R-880 phono stage ($70k). One would then have to add the C-880 preamp ($70k) and SD-880 streamer-DAC ($70k), for a total package price of at least $410,000.00, before factoring in the cost of extra power cables and interconnects needed for the 880-series phono and streamer-DAC separates.

These C-380 preamp and M-380 monos include the original flight cases and will be shipped via fully insured freight, ratchet strapped to a skid to and wrapped with plastic stretch wrap to ensure that they arrive in perfect condition to its new owner.
